Almanzor 3YO impresses

Patience was rewarded at Werribee where Galant Knight delivered at the first time of asking.

The homebred son of Almanzor was produced first-up over 1400 metres by trainers Ben, Will and JD Hayes and the three-year-old rounded off strongly in the straight for a perfect outcome.

Galant Knight settled three back on the fence before he was angled into the clear by rider Eoin Walsh 600 metres from home and then powered over the top of his rivals in the straight.

Bloodstock agent John Foote purchased him out of our New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale draft for $260,000 and the chestnut is raced by prominent owner Gerry Ryan and partners.

On our behalf, Foote also bought his dam Vanity Queen for 125,000gns at the 2017 Tattersalls Mares’ Sale and she has now left three winners, including Tycoon Prince who has been twice successful in our colours.

Vanity Queen, who had an Embellish filly last year, is a half-sister by Fastnet Rock to the Listed Newbury Fillies’ Trial Stakes winner Volume, who also ran Group 1 thirds in the English and Irish Oaks.
