Mr Miller created a strong impression when he delivered the perfect result at the first time of asking at Warwick Farm.

The champion pairing of trainer Chris Waller and jockey James McDonald combined to power the Almanzor three-year-old to a debut victory over 1300 metres with the promise of further riches to follow this preparation.

Bred by Graham and Helen-Gaye Bax, Mr Miller had been a trial winner and carried that form over to race day when he tucked in behind the pace from his inside gate and proved superior in the run home.

He failed to meet his $80,000 reserve when offered by Blandford Lodge at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale and sold to clients of Waller’s stable after winning a spring Taupo trial from Pam Gerard’s stable.

Mr Miller is a son of the Pins mare Miss Miller who is out of Zabeel’s G3 Winter Cup winning-daughter Zabeels Angel and the upfront family of Vangelic, successful in the G2 Golden Pendant and runner-up and a multiple Group 1 placegetter.
