Guineas glory for Hello Youmzain filly

The addition of headgear had the desired effect on Hello Hayley who produced a powerhouse finish for an upset victory in the Listed Southland Guineas.

Our homebred filly credited shuttle stallion Hello Youmzain with his third individual Southern Hemisphere stakes winner with her victory at odds of better than 20 to one.

“That was very impressive, even though I did think she was a little underdone,” Price said.

“She’s a good wee girl and with the blinkers on and she has got the job done and they have definitely improved her.”

Hello Hayley settled off the pace before improving near the turn and the three-year-old unleashed an irresistible finish for the second win of her six-start career.

“It was absolutely massive run as I thought I would take her back because I knew there might be a little bit of carnage early on,” rider Donovan Cooper said.

“We got to bide our time before I asked the question at the 600, where I dropped my stick, but boy was she tough and what acceleration she has got.

“I definitely think the blinkers on played a big part as she was a lot more focussed and is pretty exciting.”

Hello Hayley is a half-sister to Livalittle, a four-year-old by The Autumn Sun who recently won his fourth race in our colours for champion Queensland trainer Tony Gollan.

Their dam is the Thorn Park mare Hayley Grace whose half-sister Bak Da Chief won the G2 Waikato Gold Cup and produced the two-time elite level winer Te Akau Shark.

It is also the family of Pondarosa Miss, successful in an edition of the G1 Easter Handicap and her brother Ecuador was a stakes winner and multiple Group 1 placegetter.
