Progressive four-year-old Exaggeration continued the fast start to his career with further success on the all-weather track at Awapuni.

The son of Embellish has made all three of his appearances on the course for two wins and an unlucky second.

Stephen Gray, who trains with father Kevin, has a good opinion of Exaggeration and believes he will also be a force to be highly effective on firmer grass surfaces.

“I have run him on the all-weather to keep him off the bog tracks and keep him in work. He’s a very good horse,” he said.

In his latest success, Exaggeration came from a distant third on the turn with a powerhouse finish to score over 1400 metres.

Bred and raced by Kevin Gray with wife Kathleen, Exaggeration is the first winner for their Burgundy mare Classic Belt.

Her dam Minnie Belt won two editions of the Listed Canterbury Breeders’ Stakes and is a half-sister to the G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas winner Master Belt and the Listed Rangitikei Gold Cup winner Buckle Your Belt.

The unraced Classic Belt produced another colt by Embellish last season.
